3 Major Problems of Pakistan
Currently, Pakistan is going through the worst conditions and is facing a lot of problems. It is quite obvious that its pretty difficult to solve all of those problems as they are uncountable. However, there are some basic problems which, if ruled out, can revolutionize the internal situation of Pakistan.
What are these problems? Every person has his own opinion about the fundamental problems of Pakistan. But most of the public believes that there are three fundamental problems behind all that is happening in Pakistan. These problems refers to literacy, judiciary and the foreign policy of Pakistan. We will talk separately about each one of them.
Talking about literacy. The literacy rate of Pakistan by the end of year 2008 was 54% out of which about 63% are males and the remainings are females. Note that this is the literacy rate of Pakistan if those people are also counted who can just write their own names and nothing else. Now if this rate is compared with the literacy rate of some of the developed countries, it is definitely way too less. For instance, most of the developed European counties as U.S.A, U.K, Canda etc have a literacy rate of 99% where China stands with 93.1%.
One of the fundamentalism behind the progress of a country is the literacy rate. If the public is not educated then you can’t even imagine any country to be progressing. It is just because of illiteracy that the people of Pakistan elect the same corrupt government over and again. They don’t have sense to realize that the leaders they are voting for are not at all sincere with them. If people are educated only then they can judge a person in a better way and keep an eye on him.
Talking about Judiciary. Judiciary plays the most significant role in maintaing the internal situation of a country. The importance of judiciary can be judged by the following instance.
During the World War 2, England was going through some of the most terrible conditions. Under such circumstances when a person went to Mr. Churchill(then Prime Minister of England) and told him that the country is facing worst conditions and people are getting shattered, there was only a single question asked by Mr. Churchill. It was, “Is the judicial system of our country working well.” When he got the answer in yes, he said that it is not possible for a country to face anarchy until its judiciary is working at its peak.
This is the importance of judicial system. Currently, the judicial system of Pakistan is not that well. The justice is being provided only to the elite class and the poor people have to pleed for justice all over their life and still to no avail. This is what promotes anarchy.
Have you ever imagined why so much of the suicide blasts occur in Pakistan. One of the reasons behind that is the inefficiency of Judicial System. In my opinion, if the judicial system workds properly, the blasts can be reduced to half. Today, the law is just for the poor class and the elite class can disobey the law whenever they want and still when they need justice, they are provided immediately. This class difference gives rise to a war between elite class and the poor class. Because it is certainly not digestable for the poor people that the mighty shall stomp at their rights.
This is the basic reason behind the fluctuating internal situation of Pakistan. As long as the justice is not provided at the doorsteps of everyone regardless of what he is and where he belongs, this country is not going to flourish. Sorry. With the coming of Justice Iftikhar M. Chaudhry, the judicial system is getting better, however, there still are a lot of things to improved about it.
Third reason, the foreign policy of Pakistan. Currently, under the current government, the foreign policy of Pakistan is the worst one. One of the basic point in the foreign policy of any country is that no country will be a permanent friend or foe. But Pakistan is still trying to maintain the SO CALLED friendship with U.S.A. It is even neglecting the rights of its own public in doing so. So many of the innocent Pakistanis are killed by America eveyrday and Pakistan is not willing to take any legal action against it.
One of the simplest example of this are the Drone attacks. Tell me who gave the rights to U.S to attack Pakistani areas. Who gave the rights to them to operate within the territories of Pakistan. Its our government who gave them the rights.
At first, our government permits U.S to kill thousands of innocent people of Pakistan and then when they raise voice against Pakistani government, they are declared as some sort of rebelions. If the government expects them to stay quiet on this game of blood they are playing, then for sure, it can never happen.
Each and every single Pakistani is against the Drone attacks. Even the national assembly does not allow this. So logically, anyone who enters the Pakistan’s territory illegaly, must be crashed down. So why not Drones? And by the way, we are already being told by General Kiani that there is no problem in hunting down the Drones but they have to wait for the order from the government, that never comes. So if any leader says that the government is helpless about the Drones then to be frank here, THEY ARE LYING.
This is the problem about the foreign policy of Pakistan that it is allowing the foreigners to not only get into Pakistan but also to operate in here. And then some of the people says that government doesn’t matter. If each and every single citizen is fulfilling the responsibilities put to him, then all is well. But its not the truth. Because a common person can do nothing about the foreign policy of his country. So in such cases, at the end of the day, the government does matter.
These are the three problems, which if ruled out, can change the entire situation of Pakistan. As long as they survive, Pakistan can’t progress. Because as I said earlier, these are the fundamentals for a country to progress.
