Online Games Banned In Vietnam On Account Of Murder Cases
The advertisement of Online games in Vietnam has been banned as its compelling the youngsters to commit crimes like robbery and murder in order to get money to pay for play, an official told on Thursday. The Ministry of Information and Communication took this decision on account for the negative influence of such video games on the youngsters, said Ministry Official Luu Vu Hai.
The licensing of the online games has been banned unless the new regulations are not implemented from the government. The advertisements have been banned and the internet service providers are ordered strictly to cut off the internet connection to the shops that offer games after 11 p.m.
In the recent years, the percentage of such crimes is found to be increasing in Vietnam where a number of youngsters were found committing serious crimes like robbery and even murder and on interrogating, it came out that they just needed a little amount of money to pay for their online play.
One of the most astonishing case was the one, in which, a little girl of 15 was sentenced to 10 years of imprison because she kidnapped a 4 year old boy from her neighborhood and robbed her just to get $10 to pay for her online game, state media reported. Teenagers forming lines in online game shops is a common sight in the capital Hanoi – a city of 7 million people – where more than 3,000 such shops operate.
22 gaming companies and 93 games have ben licensed so far, according to thursday’s Vietnam newspaper.
All the video games containing violent or pornographic content are banned. Vietnam strictly controls the spread of information over the net and has said that it would not tolerate cyberspace being used to promote violence and pornography or any other kind of anti-government content.
