U.S Combat Mission In Iraq Will End On 31 Aug, Says Obama

iraq-war-soldiersThe United States according to the schedule will end its combat mission in Iraq on 31st August. Despite of the increased violence in Iraq, U.S will not expand its combat mission in Iraq, says President Barack Obama in his speech on Monday.

“Shortly after taking office, I announced our new strategy for Iraq and for a transition to full Iraqi responsibility,” Obama will tell a national convention of Disabled American Veterans in Atlanta, Georgia, according to excerpts of his speech released by the White House.

U.S Soldiers’ High Suicide Rate

US-troopsThe tough duty of the U.S soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, has increased their suicide rate to a record high. Now an average of 1 suicide per day. According to US Army statistics, the last month has been the worst of all times, with 32 soldiers taking their own lives. Twenty-one were on active duty, with the rest being among National Guards or Army Reserve in an inactive status, CNN reported Friday. Read more…
